An Art Lovers Guide to Barcelona

Picasso Museum - Barcelona

Barcelona is an art lover’s paradise. Every time I visit the city, I always end up stumbling upon something new and beautiful. Barcelona can be an expensive city to visit in terms of accommodation, especially if you do not want to stay in super-cheap accommodation. This summer I was lucky enough to find a few house sits in Spain which offered free accommodation in return for pet sitting (house sitting responsibilities tend to vary but these are the normal requirements) as well as a few cool apartments and even yachts to rent out for accommodation, although this turned out to not be as glamorous as thought as the marina is party central, especially at the weekends. In between all of this, I managed to check out some of Barcelona’s art scene. Here’s a guide for anyone else who plants to … Continue reading

Dallas Box Office Hits

Dallas Skyline

We often forget that not all box office hits are filmed in Hollywood. In fact, many of our favorite flicks were made right in our home town. Check out our top 7 favorite movies filmed in Dallas. Office Space “Office Space” is a cult classic. The film centered on Peter Gibbons, Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar, three co-workers at Initech, an IT company. All three men are disgruntled with their jobs, which dealt with making banking software Y2K compliant. They come up with a plot to infect the accounting system with a virus that will divert fractions of a penny from every transaction into a separate account. A mistakenly placed decimal point brings them in over $300,000 in less than a week. If you are in Dallas, you can check out the space where “Office Space” was shot on in … Continue reading

Then, the city experienced a period of disrepair. Although not as opulent and impressive as the city once was, Venice today is a lovely place to visit with so much rich history. The canals and architecture is a step back in time. For visitors coming for business or city breaks in the area should consider these three top reasons for selecting luxury apartments instead of hotel rooms. 1 – Setting Imagine modern re-made apartments along the scenic canal near Zitelle Church. Dream of waking … Continue reading

UNESCO World Heritage Site: Historic Centre Of Siena, Italy

Siena, Italy

Siena (also called Sienna) is an outstanding medieval city that has successfully preserved much of its original character. Throughout the centuries, residents have focused on keeping the Gothic appearance that was developed between the 12th and 15th centuries and its architecture has had huge influences on Italian and European art.  UNESCO World Heritage Site status Despite Siena’s awkward setting between the Arsia and Elsa valleys, away from the main communication routes, it has thrived over the years as an important city and epicentre of Italian trade and culture. This, coupled with the impressive preservation of architecture, makes Siena a prime candidate for UNESCO World Heritage site status.  A procession through Siena’s streets The history of Siena The centre of Siena is delimited by a 7km enceinte of ramparts from the 14th to 16th centuries. The city’s walls have been enlarged … Continue reading
